New Beginnings

Man, it’s been a long time. I finally set it up to where I get an email reminding me to make a post every week!

So, in the news of my life currently:

My baby sister got married in December. It was a beautiful wedding. Here’s a photo: Image

They were high school sweethearts and have been together now for 8 years! I could go on all day about the two, but I won’t.

Gwynn, however, did not really like the wedding so much (the dj was playing music WAY too loud). She did enjoy the rehearsal the day before. It was sad, too, that it was hard to enjoy the wedding with a screaming baby. But during the wedding, I was making mental notes of things to do for my own wedding in October. (Jay and I are getting married October 4th! Of course, his dad had to joke,” ’10-4′ is a cop’s ‘OK’ so I approve.”) I also caught the thrown bouquet. I think I embarrassed her by being excited.

In also great news, Jay and I were approved of a new apartment in the ‘Boro! We’ll be moving at the end of this month. It’ll be strange leaving this town which we have lived in for 6 years now. But the community we’ll be moving to is great and has a lot of social activities for the residents, much better than here. My only worry will be financially; we’ll be paying twice the amount that we’re used to, and we’ve gotten used to being able to buy all organic foods. This year, we’ve stopped eating out as much as we used to, which has saved us a lot of money. But we used to scrounge when he was working at Gamestop and I at Steak n Shake, so I know we’ll be okay. Gwynn is breastfed and I am making all her baby foods (which also saves money). But the month of March is going to entail us hanging out with all our friends here before we move.

It’ll be a new beginning in our lives as parents and as a family.

Next will be us getting married, which I am super excited for. I cannot wait to call him m husband.

Why My Wife’s Job Is Harder Than Mine

This man has it to the tee. We ‘SAHM’ have a very hard and rewarding job and we should probably get compensated for doing it, too… just saying…

I work at a large, top-200 law firm in one of the ten most populous cities in the country. The hours can be grueling, there are constant deadlines, and the work is mentally demanding.  Any partner in my particular practice area can assign me work, which means I have more than 30 potential bosses.  At any given time, I am working on projects for three to five partners, all of whom believe that their assignment should take priority over any other work.  As a result, there have been many long days (and long nights).

Moreover, being a lawyer at a large firm is a high-stress endeavor.  Even small mistakes can have significant implications and, as a result, tensions can run high.  And of course, because excellence is expected, partners are unlikely to give much positive feedback for a job well done; instead, the reward for good work is more work.

17 Signs You Were Born In 1986, 1987, 1988 Or 1989

Thought Catalog

*These are reasons aside from the more obvious ones such as knowing when your birthday is or having a government issued ID that clearly states your date of birth on it.*

1. Despite the fact that you’re a late 80s baby, you relate to and identify yourself as a “90s kid” since that’s the decade you grew up throughout. Entering the 2000s you were about 13, tops, so that term is pretty fitting.

2. You’ve been told to shut up about being a 90s kid and having the greatest TV programming on numerous occasions. People are sick of hearing about how epic Nickelodeon was and why the peak, élite, BEST stretch of Nicktoons ever, belongs to your childhood. Though, in your defense, 1994-1995 90s television lineups in general were scary good and worthy of the excessive praise. It’s not glorification if it’s true.

3. This Nickelodeon Magazine commercial was seen and…

Sorry it has been a while that I’ve posted anything! It’s the holidays, y’know.

So, growing up I believed in jolly ol’ St. Nicholas (Santa Claus). However, the following year when I had finished believing (I was probably 8 or 9), my little sister woke us all up exclaiming ‘Santa’s been here!!’ My brother and I rushed downstairs and, sure enough, not only did all the presents under the tree tell us that Santa came, but also the sooty footprints that led from the fireplace to the front door (where my brother’s new bike was) and back. I was skeptical and ran upstairs and checked all of my dad’s boots….

None of them matched.

Now, 8 year old me was confused. Santa wasn’t real. He surely wasn’t. I had found the stash of presents last year, when I realized that he didn’t exist…. So how?

Turns out, my dad had made cut outs of a heel that didn’t match any of his boots and dipped those cut outs into the ashes of the fireplace and made a trail. Mom was pissed because the ashes were a pain to clean out of the carpet.

It turned into a good story and memory, seeing my little sister’s face light up and my brother and I starting to half believing again.

What is the moral of this story? Well, Santa is not real and ashes do not clean out of the carpet well.

But believing in Santa was a tradition in our home. Alright. So now I’m going to shoot off an opinion of mine.

Elf of the Shelf is creepy. I personally have never liked dolls or stuffed animals ‘watching’ me, even at 24. I always turn them away so they’re not staring at me. (I think it started with Furbies back in the 90s.)

To each his own, as my mother would say. For now, Gwynn will believe in Santa for Christmas time.

I’m still trying to figure wordpress out, haha.

On a lighter note, I’m not going to be ‘reblogging’ anything here, just good whole blogging. I also have a different tumblr, too (jabberwocky-45) I’ll make sure not to change that url. If you want to see the endless reblogging of my first tumblr, you can check that out (wenn-harmon). Sorry they aren’t linked.  xD

I’ll try to keep up with this one as well as the tumblrs. 🙂

(I also tweet now! @jabberwocky_45)

Something new

Well, here I go, typing one handed. This is my first little blog post in a looooong time. The reason for this is because I’m tired of Tumblr’s dashboards and I kind of want something a little bit more … mature instead of reblogging things that are irrelevant to daily life. Also, this is much more exciting for me while I nurse my 4 month old than the endless scroll of gifs and funny posts. Maybe I can start writing again, which will be relieving to my mind.

So, all in all, I will be using this for my musings. You may see some blogging, original work or even some fanfiction. I’ll try to post every day. Maybe more than once a day. Enjoy!!
